Somewhere between polished chrome and pure obsession, you’ll find a Graver.
Spend enough time around custom cars and bikes and you’ve seen the inspiration behind Graver. Intricately engraved brightwork glimmering across a lowrider in the afternoon sun, or the chrome of a Vicla shining under the streetlights at the local bike night. Scrolls rolling into leaves, lines crossing over one another, and the closer you look, the more there is to see.
Apparently staring at engraved chrome for too long eventually leads to making a shirt.
We took that flowing ornamental scrollwork and turned it into Graver, an original Hales pattern designed to capture the character and visual depth of hand-cut engraving on fabric.
Even the name pays respect to the craft. A graver is the tool used to cut those intricate designs into metal, and a name used for the craftsman behind it. The tradition goes back generations, including legendary 1800s firearms engraver Louis Daniel Nimschke, whose incredibly ornate scrollwork is still studied and respected by engravers today.
We let the artwork do the talking with a tonal mix of silver and charcoal, finished with charcoal pearlized snaps and gun metal trim. From across the room it looks clean and understated. Get closer and Graver starts showing you what it’s really made of.
